Showcase
| The showcase will contain video samples selected and calibrated by the WebCEF team, on their quality and according to the CEF scales.
The showcase presents examples of how samples of learner productions have been assessed using the WebCEF collaborative assessment tool. Each sample has been independently assessed by a panel of experienced language teachers working in secondary or higher education in several European countries. The samples are assessed using the CEF scales for Overall Oral Production, Range, Accuracy, Fluency and Coherence. Individual assessments may diverge slightly on certain samples; this may be because the speaker is on the borderline between two CEF levels, because the task does not provide enough or not the right kind of evidence for a particular level, or because different assessors may weigh criteria slightly differently. The table below illustrates this process; it shows the rating given by seven different assessors for Overall Oral Production (Ov), Range (Ra), Accuracy (Ac), Fluency (Fl) and Coherence (Co). The final box in the table shows the result of averaging out the individual assessments to obtain a joint consensus assessment of the sample. The assessors also used the assessment tool to annotate the samples with remarks illustrating or justifying their ratings. The showcase examples give a summary of these annotations. Examples are given in the showcase of productions ate the various CEF levels. The assessments are not intended to be authoritative, but to illustrate how experienced assessors have rated oral production using the WebCEF tool. Learn more about the didactic model of WebCEF
