The Dresden University of Technology (TUD) founded in 1828, does not only rank among the oldest technical universities in Germany but also among the most important ones as far as research is concerned. With its 34575 students and almost 4000 employees, among them 438 professors, it is the largest university in Saxony today (not counting the Faculty of Medicine). |

Specific Tasks in WebCEF
The Technische Universität Dresden will be responsible for future proofing of the WebCEF project. Its tasks include keeping track of upcoming trends in theories on language assessment, language didactics and new communication and collaboration technologies. It will also participate in providing and collecting audio and video samples of oral language skills for English and German as a foreign language. Moreover, it will take part in the community of practice and disseminate the project results in its national networks of schools and higher education institutions.
Expertise of the institution in the field covered by the project
The Lehrzentrum Sprachen und Kulturen (LSK), of which the Multimedia Language Centre will participate in WebCEF – has experience in the following areas:
- Language teaching, in particular language teaching for special purposes for students in Higher Education
- Foreign language pedagogy
- Computer assisted language teaching (CALL & ICT): development of multimedia language learning materials - both for autonomous learning and in class
- Expertise in evaluating language learning software: member in special interest group "ELIAS" - Evaluation von Lernsoftware und Internet-Angeboten im Sprachenbereich” http://www.elias-nc.org/
- Teacher training: workshops and intensive trainings for language teachers in ICT
- Web design of language learning sites, data bases
